Weekly Work – – Large Projects Due Next Week

Our first History exam is in the books! I am curious to know how you liked taking the exam online. I still have a few glitches to work out, but overall I think it went well. We will be taking some smaller assessments online in the next few weeks. Most of the exams are graded and they will be handed back next week. For those that scored below an 80% there will be an opportunity to make up those points. Many of you had a creative take on how to diagram the Dynastic Cycle of Ancient China.

You can expect that diagrams such as these will continue to be part of our formal assessments.  Creating a diagram of a “big idea” or historical concept and adding your own spin is a demonstration of “Depth of Knowledge.” These types of questions are at a DOK (Depth of Knowledge) 2 or 3. Multiple choice questions are at the DOK 1 level while essay questions are often at the highest level 4.  I will attempt to touch each DOK level during every assessment. Look for a future blog post about DOK’s.

Don’t forget your large history projects are due next week. Block III will present on Wednesday, Block II on Thursday, and Block I on Friday. We will completing a reflection essay following the project.

Take a look at one excited student working away!
